From Isolation to Engagement: How We Reimagined CAMD’s Online Presence

Rebranding and Web Design

Community Action Malvern and District (CAMD) is a small, local charity committed to enhancing the lives of individuals at risk of isolation. They offer vital services for people aged 60 and over who are unable to travel independently, and anyone facing mobility or health challenges. Their services include door-to-door transport, social activities, and support networks designed to foster connection and companionship within the community.

The Challenge

Despite their vital work, CAMD’s old website didn’t reflect their warmth, compassion or the breadth of services they offer. The site was outdated, confusing and difficult to navigate. Their branding lacked clarity and their messaging failed to convey the life-changing impact they have on their community. To better serve their audience and encourage volunteer and supporter engagement, CAMD needed a complete overhaul of their brand identity and a functional, easy-to-use website.

The Solution

Citrus Web partnered with CAMD to deliver a new website and refreshed brand identity. Helen at Citrus Web led the web development, while Joe Everley of 19-Ninety Design handled creative design. Together we worked to capture the charity’s warmth and dedication while ensuring a user-friendly experience for their audience.

Key improvements included:

Comprehensive Web Strategy: Through discovery meetings, design sessions, and multiple rounds of development and testing, the website was crafted to reflect CAMD’s mission and values. The new site offers clear navigation, easy-to-understand content, and a welcoming design.

Updated Branding: A new logo, designed by Joe Everley, incorporates the iconic Malvern Hills to provide a fresh yet familiar identity. The modern design is both professional and approachable.

Rebranded Materials: Leaflets, brochures, and bus route information were updated to align with the new brand look, ensuring a cohesive visual identity across all touchpoints.

Video Content Setup: Milo and Josh, work experience volunteers, created new videos for CAMD. YouTube and Vimeo channels were set up to host and share these videos, helping communicate the charity’s message to a wider audience.

Social Media Support: New social media content was developed to promote the website launch and highlight CAMD’s services, further enhancing engagement with the community.

The new site also prominently features CAMD’s essential services, which can be booked with a simple phone call to the office:

  • Car Service: Door-to-door transport for those unable to travel independently.

  • Out and About Activities: Community-building events and day trips.

  • Sunday Tea Clubs: Regular social gatherings to foster connection.

  • Film Club: A space to enjoy classic films in a social setting.

  • Men’s Shed: A supportive environment for men to meet, work on projects, and build friendships.

  • Minibus Hire: Accessible transport for groups and individuals.

  • Wheelchair Vehicles: Ensuring mobility for those with physical challenges.

  • Malvern Hills Volunteering: Connecting volunteers to the Community

"We used Citrus Web to help us build a new website for our charity. It had to be very user friendly for the people we support, who might not be very digitally aware, to look professional and friendly.

She grasped what we needed straight away and lead us through a thorough process of pulling things together, working towards a tight deadline, despite us going off on the odd tangent!

Thanks so much Helen and team, we love our new look and have had so much great feedback about it."
